Technical Guidance

MECAL is driven by it’s Technical Committee. Part of the Technical Committee function is to issue technical guidance to our worldwide network of surveyors and naval architects to provide support and to encourage consistency in interpretation of the Codes of Practice.

This support is in the form of MECAL Technical Notes (MTNs) which are produced & updated as the working of the Codes evolves. Our policy is that this information should be available freely & not confined to our staff.

The information given as guidance must be used with care & our advice is that, if in doubt, the surveyor or MECAL Head Office should be consulted. MECAL will not be held responsible for inappropriate application of this guidance.
